Has it already been that long? It’s time for a serious update and to keep writing on here!
So, I have started my BMQ (basic military qualification) and I’ve done 2 weekends so far. I finally have my uniform and I look like a real soldier. Or a real recruit at least. With school and the BMQ on the weekend I do not have much time for myself and after 5 weeks since the begining of the semester, I only begin to get the hang of it. The weekends are long. We start at 7PM on Friday and end at around 5PM on Sunday. During that time we barely sleep, run every where and when we are not running we are attending classes (where we have to fight the urge to sleep). I cannot say it has been really hard so far. I can tell they are easing us into it but I am quite sure this weekend will be the real thing. We will handle our guns for the first time and that’s when it gets real! This last weekend was off but I took the opportunity to go on a winter exercise at Valcartier (a big base here in Quebec). I later found out that recruits were not supposed to be allowed on the exercise but I had an amazing time. I could not do much since I am not qualified to do anything (and by anything I mean that we need training in order to be allowed to do the most basic thing!) so I observed a lot. We slept in tents, ate rations and basically froze our arses off for 3 days.
I guess that’s the news as far as army goes.
Training-wise I have a hard time keeping a schedule. Too much homework, too much work or simply too tired. Good thing I have a gym class this semester! The reserve is building teams to participate in the Spartan Race, Army Run and other stuff like that. I plan to do at least one Spartan Race this year but I order to acheive that I need some serious training! So, that’s one of the reasons I am back here. Writing down what I do makes me want to try more. Does anybody ever participated in the Spartan Race? How is it?

THIS. Is how sweaty you should be after a real, tough workout. Not like all those pretty pictures of models who pretend like they’ve been working out - with their perfect hair, skin, makeup, not a drop of sweat, not even out of breath.
I think everyone needs a reminder of this.
